Slop Psyop Program treats AI slop not simply as bad imagery, but as a kind of cultural conditioning system: repetitive, excessive, addictive, grotesque and increasingly difficult to escape.
Borrowing the language of psychological operations, propaganda, conspiracy culture and algorithmic manipulation, the work imagines “slop” as an organised program for overwhelming the senses and degrading distinctions between the real and synthetic, meaningful and meaningless, human and machine-made. The polished logic of generative systems is dragged into the irrational mess of the human body.
Slop is often the result off the median and average of AI training data, increasingly however slop is used as shorthand to describe anything made with AI. The work deliberately inhabits the uncertainty of the real and synthetic amplifying AI’s statistical averages into grotesque excess: as shit, flesh, repetition, bodily excess become the norm.
